Islamabad International Airport (ISB/OPIS) is the primary international airport serving Pakistan's capital territory, located near Fateh Jang in Attock District, Punjab. It replaced the older Benazir Bhutto International Airport and opened to commercial traffic in 2018, making it one of the newer major airports in South Asia. The airport was developed by the Civil Aviation Authority of Pakistan and is designed to handle significantly higher passenger volumes than its predecessor. It features modern terminal facilities and serves as a hub for Pakistan International Airlines as well as numerous foreign carriers. The facility is situated approximately 45–50 kilometres from central Islamabad and around 30 kilometres from Rawalpindi, making ground transport links an important consideration for travellers.
