Sochi International Airport (AER/URSS) serves the resort city of Sochi on Russia's Black Sea coast in Krasnodar Krai. It is one of the busiest airports in southern Russia and the primary entry point for tourists visiting the region's beaches, spas, and mountain resorts. The airport underwent a major modernization and expansion ahead of the 2014 Winter Olympic Games, held in Sochi and the nearby mountain cluster of Krasnaya Polyana. New terminals and infrastructure were built to handle the large influx of athletes, officials, and spectators. Following the 2014 Olympics, Sochi continued to grow as a year-round destination. The airport handles significant seasonal traffic in summer and winter ski seasons, and also served as a venue for the 2018 FIFA World Cup matches held in Sochi.
