The airport is owned and operated by Copenhagen Airports A/S and handled approximately 26–30 million passengers annually before the COVID-19 pandemic disruption. It serves as the primary hub for Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) and offers connections to destinations across Europe, North America, Asia, and the Middle East. Kastrup is located just 8 kilometres southeast of central Copenhagen, making it exceptionally well-connected to the city by metro, train, and road. Its modern infrastructure and efficient layout have earned it consistent recognition among the highest-rated airports in Europe for passenger experience.
