Rome–Fiumicino Leonardo da Vinci International Airport

Rome–Fiumicino Leonardo da Vinci International Airport, commonly known as Fiumicino Airport, is Italy's largest and busiest airport and one of the major hubs in Southern Europe. Located approximately 30 kilometres southwest of central Rome near the town of Fiumicino, it serves as the primary international gateway to the Italian capital and handles tens of millions of passengers annually. The airport is named after Leonardo da Vinci, the Italian Renaissance polymath, and serves as the main hub for Italy's flag carrier ITA Airways, successor to Alitalia. It operates multiple passenger terminals and handles a wide range of short-haul European and long-haul intercontinental flights. Fiumicino has undergone significant expansion and modernization projects over the years to accommodate growing passenger traffic. A major fire in 2015 destroyed part of Terminal 3, prompting extensive reconstruction efforts. The airport continues to invest in infrastructure to improve capacity and passenger experience.
